- Suki to Iwareta Hi
1. Suki to Iwareta Hi
Suki to Iwareta Hi begins as unsettling chimes play over quiet, filtered chords. After the introduction, a hurrying beat comes in with lightly distorted electric guitars and 8-bit synths. Chelly’s airy vocals soon join with their usual relaxed, breezy vibe. Her performance is the best part of this song, and to my disappointment they’re really the only good thing I can take from the track. The verse chord progressions and arrangement are uninspired, remaining on the same chord for too long. The tempo feels overly fast, resulting in the track feeling rushed and frantic. There’s also a whispering part in the first verse, which makes for a rather boring listen.Towards the end, the arrangement uses a few more instruments, which adds more interest, but it’s too little, too late. I’m pretty unimpressed with this song.
So far, EGOIST has been hit-and-miss for me. I’ve enjoyed some songs like Namae no Nai Kaibutsu and Extra Terrestrial Biological Entities, but more often than not I haven’t found their songs that great. Suki to Iwareta Hi was just another average song that didn’t have anything going for it except the nice vocals.
