1. Utsukushiki Zankoku na Sekai
This ballad starts off with piano and vocals, and then instrumentation is slowly added in the form of quite drums, strings and a little brass. This builds up nicely to the chorus, which contrasts by turning into an awesome power ballad. She puts so much energy into the chorus! The guitar work is very good in this piece, although I thought the solo was a bit long. Overall, a really good track!
2. Starting Line
For the B-Side we get a rock song in anison style, which is guitar with a bit of synths. It’s quite upbeat and fun, but not exactly unique. She does sound pretty good tho!
Well Yoko Hikasa’s debut single was a good one, Utsukushiki Zankoku na Sekai was a great ballad and Starting Line provided a nice tempo change. I was quite surprised this was her debut as it seems that she is a seiyuu who’s been around for a while. Hopefully the next single is just as good!
Rating: 9/10 (again!)
