1. Hagane no Yoroi Matou, Sanbyaku no Daishisai
This track starts off with a piano introduction that goes for about half a minute before the rest of the band comes in. The instrumentation is typical Phantasm with guitar, piano etc. The timing kind of reminds me of of Pregheria no Tsukiyo ni, except that Hagane’s has bars with extra beats here and there. I was a bit disappointed with the messy guitar solo but the whammy bar wail at the end was good! For a Phantasm single, I would rate it as average but overall still a good track.
2. Gunjou Valencia
The B-side is a slower ballad-type track, but more like Zaika than EUPHORIA, as in keeping the rock instrumentation. Yui Sakakibara’s vocals seem nicely controlled in this song with no shrieky bits. The chorus does seem to go on a bit but it’s quite nice, and I’m liking the solo. I reckon this track is better than the A-side.
FIRST POST YAY!!! I’m impressed with the first Phantasm single after Revival Prophecy. The composer is just as good as ever and the Sak’s vocals seem to be improving a tad. Sometimes I wish that the arrangements were a little less complicated like back with Haritsuke no Misa/Harukanaru Idiyona but its cool anyway. Good single.
